Depart for Egypt
Depart from your home city on Thursday. We can assist with your flight arrangements, or you can book independently — we will coordinate your arrival and departure airport transfers at no additional cost.
Arrive Cairo → Airport Transfer → Hotel
Welcome to Egypt! Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, you are met and assisted through passport and customs by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Cairo. Evening at leisure.
Memphis → Saqqara Step Pyramid → Giza Pyramids → Great Sphinx
After buffet breakfast, drive south to the first capital of united Egypt, Memphis — home to the Temple of Ptah, the colossal statue of Ramesses II, and an alabaster Sphinx. Nearby, visit the extraordinary necropolis of Saqqara, dominated by the Step Pyramid of King Djoser — which predates the famous Pyramids at Giza by centuries and contains exquisite paintings depicting early dynastic life and customs.
Continue to the Giza Plateau to visit one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World — the Pyramids of Giza (Cheops, Chephren & Menkaure). Your tour today ends with the majestic Great Sphinx — the largest single-block sculpture in the world, carved from a single limestone outcrop at the foot of the Pyramid of Chephren. Return to hotel.
Egyptian Museum → Old Cairo → Citadel → Khan el-Khalili
After breakfast, visit the world-renowned Egyptian Museum of Antiquities in Tahrir Square — home to over 120,000 ancient artifacts including the golden treasures of Tutankhamun, royal mummies, and colossal statues of the pharaohs.
Then explore Old Cairo — including St. Sergius Coptic Church (built over the site where the Holy Family rested during the Flight to Egypt), the Ben Ezra Synagogue, and the Coptic Museum. Continue to the Muslim Quarter to visit the magnificent Citadel of Saladin (built 1176 AD) and the stunning Muhammad Ali Alabaster Mosque. End the day at the famous Khan el-Khalili Bazaar — Cairo’s medieval market dating to 1382, a labyrinth of merchants selling spices, perfumes, gold, and crafts.
Cairo → Fly to Luxor → Board Nile Cruise → Karnak & Luxor Temples
After breakfast, check out and transfer to Cairo Domestic Airport for your flight to Luxor. Arrival at Luxor Airport — meet, assist, and board your Nile cruise ship. Lunch on board. Visit the East Bank including the magnificent Temple of Karnak — the largest religious complex ever built, featuring the breathtaking Great Hypostyle Hall with 134 colossal columns — and the graceful Luxor Temple on the Nile corniche. Dinner on board and overnight in Luxor.
West Bank → Valley of the Kings & Queens → Hatshepsut → Sail to Edfu
After breakfast on board, visit the West Bank of Luxor — including the Valley of the Kings (63 royal tombs carved into the cliffs, including that of Tutankhamun), the Valley of the Queens (tombs of royal wives and children), the stunning Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari (the funerary temple of Egypt’s famous female pharaoh), and the iconic Colossi of Memnon — two enormous seated statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that have guarded the Theban necropolis for 3,400 years. Lunch on board, sail to Edfu, dinner on board, overnight Edfu.
Temple of Edfu → Sail to Kom Ombo → Aswan
After breakfast on board, visit the magnificent Temple of Horus at Edfu — the best-preserved temple in Egypt, built in the Ptolemaic period between 237 and 57 BC. Sail south to Kom Ombo — a remarkable double temple dedicated to two gods: Sobek (the crocodile god) and Haroeris (Horus the Elder), with its fascinating display of ancient crocodile mummies. Continue sailing to Aswan. Dinner on board, overnight Aswan.
Aswan High Dam → Granite Quarries → Philae Temple → Felucca Ride
After breakfast on board, visit the Aswan High Dam — one of the world’s great engineering achievements, completed in 1970 to control Nile flooding and generate electricity. Visit the ancient Granite Quarries of Aswan — where an enormous unfinished obelisk still lies in the bedrock, giving unique insight into ancient Egyptian stoneworking techniques. Take a motorboat to the island of Agilkia to visit the stunningly beautiful Philae Temple — dedicated to the goddess Isis, relocated block by block to save it from Lake Nasser.
In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing felucca sailing ride on the Nile past the lush Botanical Garden island and the domed Agha Khan Mausoleum. Dinner on board, overnight Aswan.
